## Privacy & Security

- The diary lives on the phone. It leaves the device only if the parent links a second phone or turns on the automatic backup: nothing is sent anywhere by default
- No Pediary server ever receives your child's diary. A cloud account is only needed by parents who turn on sync or backup
- No Pediary account required, and no password to remember
- What is synced between two linked phones is end-to-end encrypted on the phone and passes through the parent's own personal cloud space (Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive). The keys stay on the two phones, so the cloud provider cannot read the content either
- The automatic backup is different and we say it openly: it uploads the same ZIP archive as a manual export, without a password, into the parent's own cloud space
- Google Drive keeps the devices of a single Google account in sync. Two parents with separate accounts need Dropbox or OneDrive
